This combination of properties exhibits numerous benefits in cosmetics applications, such as skincare, leave on, sunscreen, decorative cosmetics as well as AP/DEO products.

  • SPHERILEX® 145

Whiter teeth are one of the most sought after attributes for oral care as consumers associate them with attractiveness and success. Whitening toothpastes often use a combination of mechanical and chemical agents to remove and prevent stains. While phosphates are the standard chemical cleaning agents for stain removal and prevention, it can be challenging to meet safe abrasion levels when combining them with mechanical cleaning agents. Evonik has designed SPHERILEX® 145 to enable high cleaning performance at moderate abrasion levels. The spherical shaped synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide works particularly well in whitening toothpaste formulations containing phosphate chelants, where high abrasion levels are of concern.

  • SPHERILEX® 147 (Cleaning Enhancing Silica)

SPHERILEX® 147 synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide has a unique spherical particle shape and a narrow particle size distribution. The SPHERILEX® production technology, located in Hamina, Finland, allows for the particle size and shape to be controlled during the precipitation process. This patented process results in materials with a high level of consistency, particularly in particle shape, particle size and particle size distribution. SPHERILEX® 147 is designed to be used at a low loading level in toothpaste to enhance cleaning (PCR). The product should be used at 2-6% loading in conjunction with standard ZEODENT® products, such as ZEODENT® 113. High PCR values have been obtained at loading levels as low as 3%.

  • SPHERILEX® 148

Tooth sensitivity is a common problem according to the American Dental Association, with almost 50% of the population not being able to fully enjoy eating ice cream or taking a sip of their hot coffee. This can be caused by gum recession as a result gum recession as a result of age, erosion caused by acidic beverages, teeth grinding and other medical conditions, leaving the dentin of the tooth exposed. Based on Brännström’s Hydrodynamic Theory, without protection, fluids will travel through the tubules of the dentin, stimulating nerves and causing pain. Evonik has developed SPHERILEX® 148 which is a spherical shaped synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide that can occlude dentin tubules as a significant amount of the particles is smaller than the tubules. The product should be used at 2-5% concentration in conjunction with standard ZEODENT® products.

  • STOCKOSORB® 660 Series

STOCKOSORB® 660 is based on a hydrogel technology designed for the agricultural and horticultural sectors for water and soil management. STOCKOSORB® 660 stores hundreds of times its weight in water. On demand, as soil conditions turn dry, nutrient-rich water is released to the plant root zone where it is most needed. STOCKOSORB® 660 helps create constant moisture conditions in the root zone of the plant. It provides a moisture buffer against insufficient rainfall and watering, heat and drought.
